2022 Meetings

There will be no meeting on Friday 9th September due to the hall being unavailable.

Open Work Days

We had a number of successful open work days in the second half of 2021. We aim to hold more of these events in 2022.

These events are held to provide members the chance to carry out more involved work on the layouts, that our Friday evenings do not allow us to do in the time available. Visitors are free to pay us a visit to see what their local club is up to. Tea and coffee is always available!

Tony Bettger

The club were very sorry to hear the news of the passing of former member Tony Bettger on Thursday last. As well as being an active member of the club for a number of years, he had wide and varied interests across all forms of transport and engineering matters.

A passionate advocate of railways and railway modelling, he and his family provided the club with much needed support and, for a while, accommodation when we left our previous premises, and was instrumental in finding us our current home at the Milland Valley Memorial Village Hall.

He was also a firm believer in the importance of science and technology through education. Tony and his family sponsored an annual prize at the local primary school. Named the Hawkshaw prize, after the noted architect and local resident Sir John Hawkshaw, the prize was awarded to the pupil showing the greatest aptitude/interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

That perhaps best sums up Tony's belief in the importance of engineering and the encouragement of young people into the discipline for the future.
